What are 2012 preppers?

Preppers are those banning together with other professionals in the event of a world-wide loss of electrical power in mid to late 2012-2013 resulting from a massive EMP event from our sun.

If you're not up to speed, it might interest you to know that NASA and The National Academy of Sciences have warned the world to get ready for a once in a life time super solar storm event for 2012-2013. Unless you live in a news vacuum, Fox News, CNN, BBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, The BBC, Reuters, along with The Learning Channel, The Science Channel, The History Channel, even the National Geographic Channel, as well as endless shows on talk radio, have all been educating the general public to the possibilities and the extreme dangers of losing power world wide for months on end, if not for three to five years or longer in some areas. Thus 2012 preppers are those who are preparing to be self sufficient by readying themselves to provide their own food and drinking water as well as a means to protect themselves against those who never bothered to prepare, or did not know any better.

The reality of no electricity or working automobiles for months on end?

Without electric there be few to no gas stations operating to gas up your car with as their gas pumps run on electricity.

Food stores will mostly be empty within 72 hours and would not be able to restock for months. I doubt you have 6 to 12 months of food and water ready to survive on.
Most people will no longer have access to running water in their home for drinking, bathing and doing laundry.
Refrigeration will not work without electricity.
What medical supplies you have on hand might have to get you through for a long period of time.
Without proper weapons, those without food and water will take what you have away from you
No access to bank funds.
No easy access to what few hospitals that are still operational or easy access to medical doctors.
